Hi Vernon The new book cover, although it has the same colour scheme, does not have the underlying brooding threat, River Styx style as Slow Boat to Purgatory. Reminds me very much of Angels and Demons or Da Vinci Code. But of course they have already been done. But hey ho! what do I know...
Thanks for the feedback. I was trying to capture that same sense you refer to with the old man at the top. One of the comments I received a lot with the Slow Boat cover was a lack of discernible genre. Tried to address that as well.

who cares about the genre? Seriously, I never would have looked twice at the contents of the book because of its cover. The cover means nothing to me, well, except to, you know, steer me clear of the trashy romance novels with the bare-to-the-midriff men. I opened the book on my kids' kindle while we were at the dentist and fell completely in love. This is NOT my usual genre. This is not a book I would have otherwise chosen. But so wonderfully written and imagination capturing, now you have me... I will share with all my friends and read all following books. You will sit among the masters on my bookshelves... discernible genre cover or not!
Hi Vernon! Whatever you decide where genre is concerned, I am forever a fan of yours. I enjoy the kind of story that has a ring of truth to it, but stretches the imagination into the 'could this really be possible' range, startling the reader as he goes from one realm to another. SLOW BOAT TO PURGATORY does just that. I love your use of words. 'Slow Boat' was so well written that one didn't have to stuggle with language even though you traveled internationally and intermingled cultures. I look forward to your next book.
The cover to The Arimathean captures my attention as far as the first half (from top to the middle) is concerned. However, the bottom half is a little vague and I think you could do better by simply allowing the top half to cover the whole front. I love the picture of the supernatural looking man. I think some of the effect of the top half is lost as the eye travels towards the bottom. Sometimes 'less' is better and more is just more and too much. Just my opinion.

Hi, Debi. I had the same thought. My concern was that it would look to similar to the first book. Especially using the same color scheme.
